When I woke up this morning, I was convinced it was 6 am again. Much to my surprise, it was actually 10 am! (Well, technically 9 am, but we changed time zones, so the clocks went forward an hour). I realized that we only had 45 minutes until breakfast was over, so I quickly got all the kiddos dressed and rushed them out the door.
Josh got sick last night. He woke up in the middle of the night throwing up. He still didn’t feel good when he woke up this morning. He met us for breakfast but didn’t stay long. He decided to take a nap instead. Unfortunately, that nap lasted almost all day. And he still didn’t feel very good when he did get up.
After the kids and I ate breakfast, we decided to go watch the last 30 minutes of Beauty and the Beast 3D. We had wanted to see it in the theatre, so this worked out well. We got to watch Lia’s favorite part (the end when Belle and the Prince are dancing or as Lia calls it ‘spinning around’).
After the movie was over, we made our way to get in line so the girls could take a picture with Belle. We waited about 25 minutes, but we got our pictures with Belle in her blue and white dress. Afterward, we stopped by our room to grab swimsuits.
We headed out to Mickey’s Pool and the kids played in the water for about 45 minutes. Then we got dressed and headed in for lunch at Triton’s. The buffet today was Asian, so I wanted to try a sit down restaurant. The menu was very limited, but I got a cheeseburger and fries for myself and plain spaghetti noodles for the kids.
After lunch, we headed back out to Mickey’s Pool, only to find out that someone had thrown up in it and it was now closed until 5 pm. We instead headed to Goofy’s Pool which was swarming with kids and pretty much impossible to enjoy. Well, impossible for me to enjoy. The kids didn’t seem to mind that the pool was packed. They swam a bit, then got into the (barely warm) jacuzzi. (P.S. look at the picture of the Goofy pool and tell me it’s not the size of a bathtub!)
When we were done swimming (aka, the kids were freezing), we grabbed several plates of fruit from Goofy’s Galley. The kids devoured it while watching Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald perform during Minnie’s Fiesta Grande. When the deck party was over, we got some pizza from Pinocchio’s Pizzeria to eat in our room.
Josh was finally feeling a teeny bit better and was out of bed, so we headed up to Deck 4 to play some shuffle board. The kids had fun, but they just don’t pay much attention. Lia whacked Josh in the face with the shuffleboard stick and Max shuffled two playing pieces right into Lia’s (bare) feet. That was about all the shuffleboard we could handle for one day.
Josh took Max to play some basketball and soccer, while I took the girls to see Belle (in her yellow gown). We waited in line for quite awhile, but both girls were very happy to talk to Belle and take pictures with her. We finished up just in time to meet Josh and Max at the Walt Disney Theatre for tonight’s show, Ricky Kalmon’s Hypnosis and Comedy.
It was an entertaining show, but I have to say I’m not convinced that he actually hypnotized the volunteers. He asked for volunteers at the beginning of the show. I really wanted to volunteer (just so I would know if it was for real), but I didn’t act quickly enough. People started running down to the stage and whoever got there first was picked.
So, Ricky Kalmon went through a series of prompts that supposedly hypnotized the volunteers. He then asked them to do ridiculous things, which they (for the most part) did. It was very funny and the kids really enjoyed it. But like I said, I’m still not convinced it was for real. I’ll have to make sure that I’m a volunteer next time we see a hypnotist in action! (P.S. If you’ve ever been part of a hypnotist show before, I’d LOVE to hear about whether it was for real or not!) (Sidenote: We chatted with one of the ladies who was on stage at a later time on our cruise and she said that it was a very strange experience. She said that she knew what she was doing the whole time, but felt like she couldn’t stop herself from acting ridiculous. Interesting…)
After the show, Lia had a meltdown of epic proportions in the middle of the hallway. She was screaming SO loud, I think everyone on the boat could hear her. (You’ll see the picture of her laying on the floor with her gockie below. Yes, I was that mom. Here’s my baby screaming on the floor and I took a picture of her. Hey, we have to document real life, right? The poor kid was exhausted!)
We headed back to our room to try and regain composure. It didn’t really help. I could tell Josh was feeling poorly again, so I stuck him with the screaming kid and they stayed in for the evening. He ordered room service for them for dinner. By the way, he said the tomato soup and deli sandwich were awful. He ate Lia’s macaroni and cheese because she was so tired she wanted to go to bed.
In the meantime, Max, Ava, and I went to wait in line to see Ariel. Ava is not huge into princesses, but she said she wanted to see Ariel, so we did. We waited for quite awhile, but finally made it through and she got her picture. As we were rushing to dinner, we saw Peter Pan in the hallway with no line at all. We stopped to take a picture with him too. Then we hurried to dinner!
The dinner tonight was Island theme at Parrot Cay. I ordered a romaine salad, crab and cheese dip (I don’t remember what it was called, but it was good!), swordfish and shrimp, and cheesecake for dessert (oh, well, two cheesecakes. Hey, I’m on a cruise… I get to have two desserts, right?). Photo credit on my double cheesecake picture goes to Dan! (Oh, and Karen and Dan, thanks for sharing your wine 😉  Everything was amazing! The kids had (surprise, surprise!) macaroni and cheese. After dinner, we headed off to bed.
P.S. Somehow we managed to go on vacation and not bring a flash. So I was forced to use my pop-up flash for the character photos (ugh!). It did a fairly good job, except when I forgot to take the sun hood off. Yeah, that black spot at the bottom of Lia’s Belle pictures? That’s from my awesome sun hood/pop-up flash combo. Yay for being a professional photographer!

  • If Josh was feeling so gross why would he go swimming and barf in the pool? 😉 Just kidding! I love the ones of Lia and Ava with Belle in the yellow dress. Lia looks so cute in her matching dress showing her the Belle doll!
And I totally laughed at Josh’s expense of the idea that Lia whacked him in the face with the shuffleboard slider. Sorry, Josh. It is only because I could imagine my kid doing the same thing!
    That fruit does look yummy!

  • And is it me or does Peter Pan look a little too feminine? And I love the old guy unintentionally photobombing your Peter Pan picture.
