We got up Thursday morning and packed up our stuff. We were a little bummed about leaving Grover Beach, so we decided to hit up the beach one last time. We soaked up some sun, the kids splashed in the waves, we built a drip castle, and we made the girls into sand mermaids.
We eventually dragged ourselves from the beach and headed south to Corona. We have friends that live there and we visit a couple of times a year. It’s not too long of a drive, but we got such a late start that we got stuck in rush hour traffic. Our GPS re-routed us several times, but it still took FOREVER.
It didn’t help that I had a migraine. Let’s just say that headaches and road trips with kids are not a good mix. The kids weren’t misbehaving, but three kids in a car are pretty loud. I ended up giving them iPhones and letting them play video games for about two hours. And we survived.

  • What is a “drip castle?” And is Lia washing her butt off in the last photo? I think it is funny that you are both wearing sweatshirts on the beach while your kids run around in swimsuits.
