Note: This is post 3 of a 12 post series of our family adventure in Thailand with our wonderful friends, the McManus family.
While doing research for places to go + things to do in Chiang Mai, Jenny found out about these sticky waterfalls. The water has minerals in it that don’t allow algae to grow on the rocks, so you kind of ‘stick’ to them. It took me a good hour or so of walking up + down the waterfalls to grasp the idea I wasn’t going to fall + die. The kids loved this place so dang much. We spent a few hours climbing + exploring, then headed up for lunch, then back down for a few more hours before we headed out. This was one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced. To be able to climb up a waterfall without worrying about death is such a rad experience!
On the way out we saw this massive staircase and knew we had to stop just to see what it was all about. Turns out it’s the Bua Tong Cave. You’re rewarded for walking up the 234 steps (yes, we counted) with a beautiful cave with a giant gold Buddha statue + some bats. There’s also a temple to explore right there, too. Well worth the stop.
Note: This was the day Jenny left the car lights on when we went to dinner + we came back to a car that wouldn’t start. Luckily the Thai people are super friendly and a taxi stopped to give us a jump.
