Our last day in Colorado we met up with the Behm family, some friends of ours who just happened to be in Colorado the same time we were. It was a blast driving up to the top of Pikes Peak and hiking around with them.
Something magical about being above the tree line in the thinner air, wandering around above the clouds just humbles you. You feel small. At least I do. And I find myself in a constant state of awe while being out there on the mountains. Hoping to get back real soon…
I’m combining our next two days into one post. We spent Wednesday morning hiking around in Red Rock Canyon Open Space. Which was SO great, until we walked .8 of a mile the wrong way up an advanced hill. When you have a somewhat tired and grumpy 7 year old hiking in the heat, going the wrong way up an advanced trail is not the best option. Needless to say, we made it out alive and had fun anyway. The girls even went skinny dipping in the lake.
We then spent the evening splashing in the fountains out front of Union Station in downtown Denver, hitting up Voodoo Doughnuts with some good friends and playing in some more parks. Thursday was family day and we lazily hung around various parks before heading back to Colorado Springs. The sunset on Thursday was too good not to pull over and watch.
